Philippa Benson

I grew up in the north of England but have lived most of my life in France. Since arriving in the Narbonnaise area 12 years ago, the incredible variety of species has motivated my increasing interest in birdwatching, but I am equally smitten by the amazing local flora (with a particular penchant for orchids). There is just so much interesting Mediterranean flora and other wildlife to see in the Languedoc, learning more about this fabulous diversity will keep me going for a long while yet.

My home village of Feuilla offers great birdwatching, as well as dragonflies and reptiles. But my annual highlight is always spring bird migration at Leucate!

Favorite birds: our colourful summer visitors: Bee-eater, Roller, Hoopoe and particularly the melodious Golden oriole.
